Sienna Leather Description:
The Sienna Leather used on the Austin Collection is a semi aniline leather. The leather is colored thru and thru and includes a final light coat of polyurethane finish on the surface to improve the wearability of the leather. Most common household stains should be easy to clean with the use of a damp cloth and mild soap. The grain and texture of the Sienna leather is natural and antiqued giving it a bit of “old world” and distressed look and feel. Color and grain variation are common with this high quality leather and add the natural characteristics that make this a beautiful collection.
Quality Construction:
The true value of this 100% Italian leather collection comes from the quality of its construction. The wooden frame is composed of beech wood and ash, selected from known sources and seasoned for a minimum of 2 years to ensure stability and long term durability. All corners and load bearing areas of the frame are corner blocked for additional strength and durability. The entire frame is then encased with an inch of foam before the leather upholstery is applied – a feature you’ll appreciate when you touch the sides and back and notice the soft yet supportive area behind the leather. This is a huge contrast to the 4 inches of dead space between the leather and frame that you will find on most other competing styles.
The seating/suspension unit is constructed of heavy duty, nine gauge sinuous spring steel. The steel springs are spaced no more than two inches apart and are attached to the front and back solid wood rails using heavy duty clips. Two firm rods are used to hold the springs in place, and the entire system is further stabilized by two solid wooden stretchers that run between the seat rails to strengthen the frame against the tension of the springs. A canvas barrier is installed between the springs on the foam cushion cores to prevent wear and maximize cushion life.
The seat cushions are composed of a high density polyurethane foam core and a Dacron topper of the surface to improve durability and comfort. The back cushions are composed of Dacron fiber, which is blown into both vertically and horizontally channeled bags. This ensures the proper amount of Dacron is installed every time and that the Dacron stays in place to prevent sagging of the back cushions.
